During and after COVID, I filmed more than 300 slow tune and demo videos so my students could keep learning at home. Same chair, same studio, the instruments hanging on the wall behind me. For a long time they just sat in an archive.
This week I started putting them up for download, one tune at a time. Each video is filmed close up so you can follow both hands: the picking or bowing, and the fingers on the fingerboard.
The first five
- Saint Anne's Reel, mandolin. The French-Canadian tune you'll hear at nearly every session from Quebec to Ireland. $5
- Kid on the Mountain, mandolin. A rolling Irish slip jig in 9/8. $5
- Irishman's Heart to the Ladies, mandolin. A lilting Irish tune. $5
- Lark in the Morning, fiddle. A bright jig and a session standard. $5
- Roll in My Sweet Baby's Arms, mandolin lesson. The bluegrass classic, talked through step by step. $7
You can see them all in one place at my shop.
Over the years I've taught and performed concerts and master classes across New England, Canada, Ireland, Germany, Egypt, Israel, South Korea and China. These videos are the same slow, careful teaching, now something you can download and keep.
More are coming. If there's a tune you'd like to see next, leave a comment and I'll move it up the list.
Adam
